How a Williamsburg ghost tour works
- 1
Pick your night
Ghost tours run after dark and the good ones sell out on weekends. Check the widget above for what is actually running while you are in Williamsburg.
- 2
Book with free cancellation
Most of these can be cancelled up to 24 hours before, so booking early costs nothing and holding out costs you the good guide.
- 3
Turn up where they say
This one meets at Meet your guide in front of the Capitol Building. They will be wearing an 18th-century costume and holding a lantern. Parking is available at 460 Francis St East.
- 4
Wear the right shoes
You will be walking on old, uneven, badly lit ground for an hour or more. It is the advice every operator gives and most visitors ignore.

A restored town after dark
The setting is the product
A restored eighteenth-century town after dark is rarer than a good script.
The district does the work
Very few American cities can walk you through a genuinely restored colonial streetscape at night with the lights low. That setting carries a tour even when the storytelling is ordinary, which is why the format holds up in Williamsburg on a shallower operator bench than Charleston's.
The strongest search names a company
The most-searched Williamsburg ghost phrase names a tour operator rather than the historic area. Worth knowing before you book: you are choosing a guide, and every operator walks the same restored district. The cards below list that company alongside its competitors so you can compare rather than assume.
Set the expectation first
This is atmosphere and history, not a haunted attraction. If you are bringing a teenager who wants to be frightened, say so before you book rather than after.
What a night here actually costs
Williamsburg's 4 bookable tours start at $24.75 and run to $30, against a national ghost-tour median of $30 measured across 208 products. That entry price sits below the category 25th percentile of $25, which makes it genuinely cheap for a ghost tour rather than simply cheap. The distinction matters: a low price in a thin market usually means one operator with nobody to compete against, not a bargain. With 4 products the field is small but real - enough to choose between, not enough for competition to have weeded much out. Read the review counts rather than assuming. Fantastic time! The guides are very interactive and it takes about 2 hours. Gotta remember to bring plenty of cash for tips.
Our tour guides Lexi and the pirate (I’m so sorry I forgot his name) were amazing!! They were very engaging and had so much information. I would recommend this tour to others. At the end I was sick and they stayed with home until my husband came and got me. It really meant a lot to me they stayed after to make sure I was ok.
Lexi was great and so knowledgeable! It was a really fun tour and we learned so much We would definitely recommend it to others!
The tour guide was amazing but it would have been cool to get to actually see the inside of the buildings
Mike was knowledgeable and fun. He kept the tour moving at a perfect pace and filled the evening with great stories and activities. We had two ten year olds and they were immersed in the stories and loved the tour. We will highly recommend Mike to all our friends and family. Thanks for an enjoyable evening.
we saw many other towers during our time but our guide waa the best enjoy thay they dress up unlike many other guides we saw
It was great. The tour guide was outstanding. She was very knowledgeable about the history, including the economics, cultural and social life, in Williamsburg. She was inspiring and great at sharing stories of pirates, ghosts and witches at various locations throughout Colonial Williamsburg.
Fantastic tour, guides were great with lots of history and fun facts, they made the tour very interactive and a lot of fun.

Katherine was fun and entertaining! She obviously enjoys her job and helped us all have a great time. We had a group including all the ages and everyone was engaged. We enjoyed a spooky side of Williamsburg we were not aware of! Great fun!
Austin did a great job telling us about the history of the area. He made the tour hauntingly exciting. I would definitely do this again when I am back in this area.
Frightfully fun! Robert was knowledgeable and entertaining. History mixed with some Ghost stories. Thanks!
Bryce was a great tour guide! His enthusiasm and stories made the ghost tour really entertaining. Some creepy photos were taken, and during a tale with a black cat, one showed up!
My party had a great time. The storytelling was great. Bryce was great. Unexplained things happen but that just made the night even better.
William, our guide, was awesome! He was very captivating and easy to hear amongst our group. I would highly recommend this tour and William as your guide.
William was a wonderful guide and great storyteller
Our guide, Austin was awesome. The tour was full of historical and interesting facts. We were not able to experience any paranormal activities, but the tour was well worth it.
Patrick was awesome!! Very informative and knowledgeable about the tour itself and all the places we visited. He was also informative about Williamsburg and its rich history.
My favorite part of the tour was how knowledgeable the tour guide was as well as sharing his personal experiences. He was mindful of the walking abilities of the groups and shared tips and tricks that have previously captured paranormal occurrences. We would love to keep going on tours with Austin!
Patrick made our tour fun and creepy! We absolutely loved it!
The tour was entertaining and spooky. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a little adventure on your trip mixed with some history.
